About The Position

Coborn's Market & Table is hiring a Sous Chef to help bring our new, in-store restaurants to life! You will focus of this position is to support daily kitchen operations—jumping in wherever needed, setting the standard for excellence, and helping the team deliver consistently great food. Requirements

  • Must be at least 18 years of age
  • A minimum of two years of professional cooking experience, preferably in a high-volume food service environment

Nice To Haves

  • Culinary degree is preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

  • Culinary Execution & Line Support Oversee daily preparation and cooking of menu items to ensure consistency, quality, and presentation.
  • Assist in menu item preparation, recipe adherence, and ingredient prep as needed.
  • Conduct daily line checks, including food temperatures, freshness, and presentation standards.
  • Master all BOH line positions (sauté, broiler, pantry, prep, etc.) and step into any station as business demands.
  • Sanitation, Cleanliness & Food Safety Enforce impeccable cleanliness and sanitation standards across all kitchen areas.
  • Maintain waste, temperature and illness logs in compliance with health codes and company policy.
  • Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal food safety regulations.
  • Lead staff in daily, weekly, and monthly cleaning procedures.
  • Inventory & Waste Management: Monitor inventory usage, conduct regular counts, and report variances.
  • Implement waste control practices to minimize product loss.
  • Assist with ordering and receiving to ensure accuracy, quality, and cost-effectiveness.
  • Collaboration & Communication Parter with Chef de Cuisine to maintain smooth kitchen operations and mentor and train kitchen staff on recipes, prep methods, equipment use and safety protocols.
  • Provide input to the Chef de Cuisine on menu development, ingredient quality, and operational improvements.
  • Special Events Assist with planning, preparation, and execution of special events, seasonal promotions, and catering functions.
  • Collaborate with the Chef de Cuisine to ensure events are executed seamlessly and on schedule.
  • Adapt quickly to event-specific menus, unique service styles, or higher production volumes.
  • Perform other duties within the department or other areas as assigned.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work environment.
  • Observe and enforce all company policies, rules, and safety practices.
