About The Position

Madden’s is currently seeking the position of Sous Chef at the Classic Grill.

Requirements

  • Organized, great communication, decisive & flexible.
  • Excellent listening, speaking, and writing skills.
  • Great decision-making skills.
  • Must be able to work alongside other people and independently.
  • Time management.
  • 2–3 years of experience of restaurant chef or similar experience.
  • Manage a kitchen team of 5-8 employees.
  • Primarily standing and walking for prolonged periods of time. Must have the ability to stand, walk, talk/hear, both in person and by telephone, occasionally required to stoop, kneel, bend, crouch and lift up to 50-pound boxes and items sometimes repeatedly.
  • Varying schedule with nights and weekends required.
  • Less than 10% travel required.

Responsibilities

  • Manage and oversee a team of 5–8 kitchen employees, ensuring efficient and effective operations.
  • Develop and execute weekly fish specials and daily risotto specials.
  • Prepare and maintain weekly kitchen schedules to optimize staffing and productivity.
  • Conduct month-end inventories and manage stock levels to minimize waste.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and orderly kitchen environment at all times.
  • Monitor product rotation and ensure all ingredients and products remain fresh.
  • Enforce strict food safety and sanitation practices in compliance with standards.
  • Oversee daily prep operations to support cost control and efficient production.
  • Ensure staff complete daily prep sheets for the following day accurately and on time.
  • Verify that staff complete daily kitchen closing checklists to maintain consistency and quality.
  • Work alongside kitchen staff during lunch and dinner shifts to support service and workflow.
  • Assist the Chef de Cuisine with menu development and recipe creation as needed.
  • Prepare, clean, and portion proteins for service in a timely and consistent manner.
  • Provide hands-on support with daily prep to ensure smooth and efficient kitchen operations.
