About The Position

The Sous Chef position at Morrison Living involves assisting the Executive Chef in food preparation and cooking, while also supervising kitchen staff. This role is crucial in maintaining high culinary standards and ensuring a positive dining experience for customers. The Sous Chef will take charge of kitchen operations in the absence of the Executive Chef, making it a key leadership role within the culinary team.

Requirements

• 5 years of previous culinary experience preferred.
• 2 years of previous supervisory experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Cooks and prepares food following approved recipes and production standards.
• Supervises hourly food service associates, including interviewing, scheduling, payroll, training, and counseling.
• Stores food in designated areas following food safety and sanitation procedures.
• Ensures proper food handling, presentation, portion control, and maintenance of serving temperatures.
• Maintains sanitation of equipment, supplies, and utensils, and cleans workstation thoroughly before leaving.
• Interacts with customers to resolve complaints in a friendly, service-oriented manner.
• Demonstrates understanding of daily menu items and explains them to associates and customers.
• Keeps up with peak production and service hours.
• Monitors inventory and deliveries of products and supplies, tracking production, consumption, and waste.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
