About The Position

The Sourcing Specialist is responsible for identifying, evaluating, and developing suppliers that support the company’s quality, innovation, and cost objectives. This role focuses on strengthening supplier partnerships, improving material sourcing efficiency, and mitigating supply chain risks. Working cross-functionally with Engineering, Marketing, Product Development, and Purchasing, the Sourcing Specialist ensures a dependable and competitive supply base that supports both new and existing product lines.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Business, or related field preferred.
  • 3–5 years of experience in sourcing, procurement, or supply chain management (manufacturing environment preferred).
  • Strong analytical and negotiation skills with ability to evaluate supplier performance.
  • Proficiency with ERP systems and sourcing tools.
  • Excellent communication, organization, and project coordination skills.
  • Demonstrates initiative, accountability, and a commitment to operational excellence.

Responsibilities

  • Research, identify, and qualify potential suppliers for materials, components, and services.
  • Support cross-functional teams—including Marketing, R&D, Finance, and Quality—throughout all stages of new product development.
  • Collaborate with Engineering to evaluate new materials and vendors for cost efficiency and alignment with design requirements.
  • Coordinate and participate in supplier meetings, bids, cost analyses, and risk assessments.
  • Analyze historic supply challenges, such as extended lead times, supplier stability, and quality issues.
  • Identify and qualify backup or alternative suppliers for high-risk or critical components.
  • Conduct bid evaluations and sampling to validate alternate supplier capabilities.
  • Ensure multiple supplier options are established early in product development to strengthen sourcing resilience.
  • Coordinate, monitor and analyze incoming freight costs, particularly for overseas shipments.
  • Collaborate with Purchasing and Logistics teams to identify cost-saving opportunities and optimize freight efficiency.
  • Evaluate inventory-related processes to ensure materials are accurately managed and aligned with production needs.
  • Participate in slow-moving inventory reviews to identify redesign or consolidation opportunities.
  • Review reorder points and quantities, ensuring alignment with demand trends and vendor lead times.
  • Lead initiatives to correct vendor lead times in systems and improve data accuracy.
  • Collaborate with Marketing and supplier partners to manage graded-in textile programs and maintain current online materials.
  • Negotiate discounts and manage partner data updates in collaboration with the Marketing Data Manager.
  • Analyze graded-in partner sales and recommend adjustments to maintain program value.
  • Coordinate fabric grading updates, provide data to partners, and ensure online configurators and sampling tools are up to date.
  • Review and recommend new fabric additions with Marketing and Seating teams.
  • Coordinate international shipments from supplier origin through final delivery, ensuring required documentation, shipment visibility, and timely communication with internal teams and external partners.
  • Work with freight forwarders, customs brokers, and suppliers to support smooth import processes, resolve shipment issues, and maintain compliance with applicable international shipping requirements.
  • Negotiate shipment terms, routing options, and freight-related costs with suppliers and logistics partners to improve delivery performance and support cost-efficiency objectives.
  • Analyze tariffs, duties, and other landed-cost factors to support sourcing decisions, supplier evaluations, and overall material cost planning.
  • Monitor international freight activity for risks related to delays, customs clearance, changing trade requirements, and cost fluctuations, and coordinate corrective actions as needed.
