About The Position

The Sourcing Manager is responsible for developing and executing strategic sourcing initiatives for direct materials (packaging materials, and ingredients or PMI) within a centralized Procurement environment. This role is responsible for the procurement of multiple PMI categories, ensuring supply continuity, cost competitiveness, and alignment with overall business objectives. The Sourcing Manager partners closely with cross-functional teams and multiple Business Units to design and implement optimal sourcing strategies that mitigate risk, support innovation, and safeguard the cost of goods (COGS). In an environment of volatile market pricing, this role actively manages supplier relationships and expense structures to maintain financial discipline while ensuring quality and service standards are met. The role is also responsible for driving value through rigorous benchmarking of spend, identifying cost optimization opportunities (savings), and leveraging market insights to strengthen sourcing outcomes. Additionally, this position champions continuous improvement across procurement processes, providing expertise and leadership in the development and execution of strategies that improve efficiency, resilience, and long-term value creation for the organization.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Supply Chain, Finance, Accounting, Economics, Mathematics, Marketing, or Industrial Engineering or equivalent work experience.
  • Min 7 years’ experience in procurement preferably in a food or CPG environment
  • Min 5 years’ strategic sourcing experience with expertise in influencing business strategy and vendor relations
  • Highly motivated, self-starter who can quickly achieve results in a fast-paced cross-functional environment
  • Knowledge of industry and market trends to develop and implement long-term strategies
  • Demonstrates the ability to effectively negotiate positive outcomes with both internal and external stakeholders
  • Strategic mindset with ability to communicate complex topics at all levels in the organization in a clear manner
  • Self-confident with an ability to accept and respond to challenges in a positive manner
  • Excels and drives results in an environment with change, ambiguity, and complexity
  • Strong and effective verbal and written communication skills
  • Broad understanding of business issues, industry trends, metrics, and organizational linkages
  • Highly honed negotiation skills, developed through significant strategic sourcing experience
  • Successful experience as part of cross-functional project teams
  • Experience writing and generating RFPs, RFIs and RFQs to suppliers
  • Excellent quantitative, analytical, and project management skills

  • Master’s or post-graduate Degree from an accredited four-year college or university
  • Certification in or equivalent training in Certified Purchasing Manager (CPM)

Responsibilities

  • Build and execute sourcing strategies for direct materials that support business goals, ensure supply, and manage costs
  • Create and run RFx processes—developing documents, evaluating proposals, and selecting suppliers based on business needs and capabilities
  • Turn data and supplier insights into clear recommendations, and align stakeholders on the best sourcing decisions
  • Develop long-term category plans that reflect demand, market conditions, and evolving packaging formats, incorporating new designs, advancing technologies, and shifts in the supplier landscape
  • Analyze spend to identify savings opportunities and improve overall cost efficiency
  • Track market trends, commodities, and pricing shifts to manage costs in changing conditions
  • Partner with Finance on budgeting, forecasting, and spend tracking
  • Perform purchase price variance (PPV) analysis and communicate how inventory valuation/pricing fluctuations may impact future cost of goods
  • Negotiate and manage supplier contracts to achieve the best total cost and business value
  • Monitor supplier performance and lead regular business reviews to drive accountability and improvement
  • Ensure suppliers meet company standards for ethics, sustainability, and compliance
  • Use data and tools (e.g., Power BI, Tableau) to generate insights and support better decisions
  • Track supplier performance and adjust strategies to improve results and protect cost of goods
  • Identify ways to simplify materials, reduce complexity, and improve efficiency
  • Partner with Marketing, R&D, and Operations to support new product launches
  • Source new materials and suppliers to meet product requirements, timelines, and cost targets
  • Align innovation goals with long-term sourcing strategies to ensure reliable, scalable supply, and successful long-term partnerships.
