About The Position

The Sourcing Manager is responsible for developing and executing sourcing strategy for food-related products and services, leveraging best practices, identifying cost containment opportunities, and standardizing products. This role ensures purchasing strategies support Advocate Health's strategic plan, mitigate risk, maximize efficiency, and achieve cost, quality, and service delivery goals. The position focuses on managing multi-million-dollar food service contracts within both managed and non-managed programs.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Supply chain, Business or related field.
  • Typically requires 5 years of experience in procurement, materials management, logistics, and finance.
  • Includes 3 years of management experience in planning, directing, and leading a centralized purchasing function.

  • Demonstrated successful contract negotiation skills.
  • Sound knowledge of inventory management and related accounting processes.

Responsibilities

  • Supports strategic sourcing best practices for enterprise across assigned categories.
  • Manages the end-to-end sourcing process, including supplier identification, qualification, selection, negotiation, and contracting.
  • Identifies cost-saving opportunities through comprehensive analysis of utilization, pricing, and contracting.
  • Fosters strong relationships with suppliers and supports supply chain-supplier relationships in assigned categories.
  • Works closely with value analysis, finance, supply chain management, and other relevant stakeholders.
  • Develops and manages metrics and performance indicators to measure the impact of strategic sourcing initiatives.
  • Provides guidance, mentorship, and assists with training as needed.
  • Stays updated on industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices.
  • Assesses and mitigates risks associated with the sourcing process.
  • Directs and provides guidance for the preparation, solicitation analysis and presentation of Requests for Proposal (RFP), Request for Information (RFI), and Invitations for Bid (IFB).
  • Develops and recommends operating and capital budgets and controls expenditures within approved budget objectives.
