About The Position

Sourcing Manager – Ag & Chemical Inputs HUMA, Inc. | Gilbert, AZ | Full-Time | 4/9s Schedule (Most Fridays Off) ━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━ READ THIS FIRST This role is not a fit if your background is primarily in aerospace, defense, automotive, electronics, or large-scale manufacturing parts procurement. The materials, vendors, markets, and dynamics are fundamentally different here. This role is a strong fit if you have sourced raw materials, agricultural inputs, fertilizers, micronutrients, or specialty chemicals — and you know what it means when a supplier in India has a 3-month lead time and your busy season starts in 90 days. ━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━ THIS IS A WORKING ROLE — NO TEAM TO MANAGE The internal title is Director of Sourcing & Supply Chain. You will carry that title and that ownership. What you will not have — at least for now — is a team to manage. You are the sourcing and procurement department. One person. No direct reports. You own strategy and execution simultaneously — that means you build the sourcing plan and you also issue the purchase orders. If you are looking for a team to delegate to, this is not that job. If you are a hands-on sourcing professional who knows ag and chemical inputs and wants to own a function at the director level, keep reading. ━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━ ABOUT HUMA HUMA is a U.S.-based mining, manufacturing, and novel technology company specializing in humic solutions — products built on humic substances (ancient oxidized carbons) that serve agricultural, environmental, and tech additive markets. We are a growing mid-sized company with operations across Arizona, New Mexico, and Mexico. Learn more at huma.us. ━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━ WHAT YOU WILL DO You support multiple sites: a production facility in Gilbert (liquids and solids), a New Mexico mine & processing facility and the R&D lab team. You are the single point of contact for sourcing and procurement across all of them.

Requirements

  • Hands-on sourcing experience in agricultural inputs, fertilizers, specialty chemicals, or chemical manufacturing — this is not negotiable
  • You have personally issued POs, negotiated contracts, and managed vendor relationships in an ag or chemical environment
  • Strong lead time awareness — you manage horizons, not just open orders
  • Ability to read commodity indices and use market intelligence to time purchasing decisions
  • Experience with international supply chains (suppliers in multiple countries with variable lead times)
  • NetSuite or comparable ERP experience
  • Comfortable operating without systems doing the thinking for you — you build and own your own tracking
  • Self-directed, adaptable, and calm under supply chain volatility
  • High integrity: Choose Integrity | Win-Win-Win | Seek Innovation
  • Bachelor's degree in business, supply chain, agronomy, chemistry, or related field

Nice To Haves

  • Direct experience sourcing humic substances, micronutrients, potassium, calcium, or nitrogen-based inputs
  • Familiarity with regulatory compliance requirements for ag-chem raw material switching
  • Experience supporting multi-site procurement as a team of one
  • History of building or running a formal supplier qualification process

Responsibilities

  • Monitor daily requisitions across sites and issue purchase orders through NetSuite
  • Get price quotes, compare against commodity indices, and negotiate when pricing or lead times are off
  • Manage inbound freight — negotiate with suppliers or source independently depending on rate
  • Purchase chemicals, reactants, and lab supplies for the R&D team
  • Support the New Mexico mining operation with parts, equipment, and capital expense sourcing
  • Maintain dual-source qualification for all critical raw materials
  • Run a multi-step new supplier qualification process: validation, sampling, R&D testing, regulatory compliance, pricing negotiation
  • Attend industry events (fertilizer/ag-chem conferences); maintain active relationships with key suppliers
  • Monitor commodity indices and market intelligence to get ahead of price movements
  • Run quarterly horizon planning using 2 years of order history — materials come from Canada, Mexico, China, and India etc with lead times up to 3+ months
  • Set per-material calendar checkpoints and communicate proactively with production on constraints
  • Plan around seasonal demand and supplier shutdown windows (holidays, summer maintenance)
  • Track inventory levels and balance working capital against stockout risk

Benefits

  • Competitive pay based on experience
  • Quarterly discretionary bonuses
  • Medical, dental, vision, and life insurance
  • 401(k) with up to 6% company match
  • 4/9s schedule — most Fridays off
  • Generous PTO and sick leave
