About The Position

Piper Companies is looking for a Sourcing Commodity Manager to join a leading technology organization located onsite in San Jose, CA 3 days per week to support new product development by driving sourcing strategies for mechanical components and influencing supplier selection during the design phase.

Requirements

• 5+ years of experience in sourcing, commodity management, or mechanical product development.
• Must be eligible to work in the United States and obtain and maintain an Active U.S. Government Secret Clearance.
• Strong knowledge of mechanical components, including sheet metal, plastics, and thermal solutions.
• Proven ability to collaborate with hardware design teams and influence supplier decisions.
• Excellent communication, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills.
• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or Business (or equivalent experience).

Responsibilities

• Partner with engineering and hardware design teams to guide sourcing decisions for new products.
• Lead sourcing strategies for mechanical commodities such as sheet metal enclosures, plastic parts, and thermal components (fans, fan trays, heat sinks).
• Influence supplier selection during the design phase to ensure cost, quality, and lead-time objectives are met.
• Act as a key liaison between business units and engineering groups to align sourcing strategies with product development timelines.

Benefits

• Salary Range: $105,000 - $125,000 annually (based on experience).
