About The Position

Analyzes complex contracts from the financial, business, and operational perspective in such areas as financial and expense contract performance, cost-benefit analysis, forecasting, return on investment, and service performance. Analyzes trends in financial and business operations, formulates recommendations for action, and facilitates process improvement initiatives. Works in close collaboration with the Value Analysis committees, Service Lines, CNO group and other key clinical stakeholders to identify opportunities for savings and standardization in the areas of contracting and reduction of clinical variations in products across the Avera system. This position will work as part of a team along with the clinical subject matter expert and contract negotiator to meet performance targets in supply spend savings.

  • Bachelor's or 5 years analytical related experience
  • 5 years analytical related experience or education
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office Suite (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Access, Visio) or similar products.
  • Expertise preparing, importing and manipulating information in spreadsheets, databases, and presentations

Responsibilities

  • Prepares financial, business, trend, and operational analyses of products, services, projects, or general business that may include but is not limited to budget analysis, cost benefit analysis, analysis of technology/capital equipment, and vendor services.
  • Partners with and facilitates discussions with individuals and business areas to understand and prioritize business needs and processes.
  • Monitors benchmarks and market trends, and prepares financial projections.
  • Plans and assists in implementing process improvement initiatives and installing best business practices.
  • Creates comparative matrices based on the determination of total cost/benefit analysis.
  • Assists in the development of financial proformas and product/service evaluations.
  • Utilizes systems and department software to develop, and maintain financial reporting tools to support business decisions, which include but are not limited to reports on savings, return on investment, and compliance.
  • Prepares related reports, graphs, charts, presentations and other documents to support analysis.
  • Assists in and supports the development of business policies/procedures as needed.
  • Develops, implements, and evaluates special projects related to process and operational improvement initiatives, and recommends cost savings/standardization opportunities.
  • Works in close partnership and collaboration with the Avera Clinical Resource Managers, Contract Managers and clinicians in order to identify large savings opportunities and standardization opportunities.
  • Works in a cost savings matrix to capture both budgeted cost savings as well as capital cost avoidance.
  • Works with regional Finance Officers to tie back savings to the appropriate cost center for potential budget reduction.
  • Successfully works on multiple projects at the same time by applying organizational and prioritization skills to accomplish outlined objectives.
