About The Position

Do you love music, podcasts, and studio production? The Prince George's County Memorial Library System is seeking a Sound Engineer for the Bowie Branch Library to support youth focused studio sessions. This short term, grant funded​ opportunity offers hands-on experience in a professional environment, providing real world exposure to recording, editing, mixing, and mastering while fostering a creative community space. ​

Requirements

  • High school graduate/GED or current high school senior.
  • Strong communication, organization, and customer service skills.
  • Comfortable working independently and with a team.
  • Basic computer skills (Google Apps, MS Office, email, internet)

Nice To Haves

  • Preferred experience with music recording, musicians, and working with youth.

Responsibilities

  • Set up and break down equipment for recording sessions (microphones, cables, audio interfaces, software, etc.).
  • Observe and support the studio during live recordings, voice-overs, music production, podcasts, or post-production sessions.
  • Edit and organize audio files using digital audio workstations (DAWs), e.g., Pro Tools, Logic Pro, FL Studio, Adobe Audition, Reaper.
  • Perform sound checks and basic troubleshooting.
  • Maintain and organize studio gear, cables, and equipment.
  • Help log session details and maintain production documentation.
  • Support studio participants with administrative and scheduling tasks as needed.
  • Research tools, plugins, or sound design elements to support specific projects.
  • Follow library policies and represent the Library professionally.
  • Assist with special projects as required.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
