About The Position

Pathways Vermont is a dynamic nonprofit agency committed to permanently ending homelessness and offering innovative mental health alternatives throughout Vermont. The Soteria House operates as a hospitalization prevention residence for individuals experiencing an early episode of psychosis/extreme state/non-consensus reality who wish to avoid or minimize their exposure to medications. The Shift Supervisor is responsible for supervising three full-time staff, essential house functions, and being with residents in a supportive capacity.

Requirements

  • Strong communication, writing, and computer skills.
  • Ability to tolerate uncertainty and risk.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to form relationships with marginalized individuals.
  • Sound judgment and good problem solving skills.
  • Ability to structure time, develop work priorities independently, and meet program expectations.
  • Ability to work weekends.
  • Some schedule flexibility required for on-call coverage.
  • Supervisory experience preferred.
  • Prior residential experience preferred.
  • Valid driver’s license and ability to drive vehicle required.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
  • Training in Intentional Peer Support, Harm Reduction, medication assistance, emergency procedures, CPR, first aid preferred.
  • Ability to share one’s own personal transformative life experiences.
  • Personal experience of psychosis/extreme states or mental health challenges considered an asset.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise three Resident Support Staff, including providing weekly supervision, training, and general oversight.
  • Oversee and plan weekly coverage to ensure two staff are present during each shift.
  • Ensure that there is a Lead Shift person scheduled in the event a leadership staff is not present on site.
  • Attend and co-facilitate a weekly team meeting and weekly leadership meeting.
  • Attend other meetings in a leadership capacity as requested.
  • Attend monthly co-reflection meeting.
  • Participate in on-call as part of the leadership team as needed.
  • Engage in relationship building with residents and provide support from a client-centered perspective.
  • Communicate programmatic rules and expectations to residents.
  • Collaborate with residents in the implementation of a comprehensive service plan.
  • Provide one-to-one support with life skills and healthy choices as requested by residents.
  • Maintain thorough understanding of Soteria policies and procedures.
  • Maintain written and computerized records, compile reports, and complete other program documentation.
  • Attend the annual All Staff and Programmatic Retreats.
