About The Position

Schedule/Hours: Full-time, Monday – Friday days and some Saturdays This position is responsible for: Supervises and participates in the work performed by employees and community service workers in the warehouse; ensures that all donated items are processed through the warehouse in a timely manner and in accordance with established standards; ensures the thrift store remains adequately stocked.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or G.E.D. preferred, and three years experience performing warehouse work with at least six months experience in a supervisory capacity.
  • Or any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
  • Ability to meet attendance requirements.
  • Ability to communicate the English language.
  • Physical ability to lift and carry and/or push/pull light objects (less than 25 lbs.).
  • Moderate mobility: duties are usually performed by combinations of sitting, standing, and walking on a frequent change basis.
  • Distance of travel is usually within the same building.
  • Work is performed in a warehouse environment where there are physical discomforts associated with changes in weather or discomforts associated with noise, dust, dirt, and the like

Responsibilities

  • Serves as a lead worker to warehouse staff (employees, beneficiaries and community service workers) and volunteers
  • Monitors the arrival and distribution of all donations ensuring that items reach the appropriate destination in a timely manner.
  • Monitors the supply of items available in the warehouse in order to determine the areas needing additional stock.
  • Participates in the inspection of donated items in order to help determining the appropriate price; inspects appliances to ensure they are in proper working order; discards items in accordance with established procedures.
  • Participates in tagging items with specially coded tickets and/or prices in accordance with established procedures.
  • Participates in packing items in boxes; ensures that boxes are marked accordingly; assists in transporting boxes to appropriate warehouse area.
  • Assists in loading and unloading trucks as needed; supervises the loading of the rag truck.
  • Participates in the housekeeping duties; ensures that the warehouse area is maintained in a neat and orderly manner.
