Summary The position of Sorter Technician Lead is responsible for the maintenance, sanitation, troubleshooting and repair of all sorter equipment for the facility.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent is required.
  • Minimum one year experience in electrical/electronic field.
  • Intermediate understanding of electricity, electrical/electronic equipment, control systems, and other various associated electrical systems and equipment.
  • Must be able to demonstrate the ability to perform addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, and calculate percentages to make proper adjustments and calibrations, as required.
  • Must be able to read, understand, and communicate in English in a manner to successfully complete job duties.
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Must be able to work with hazardous and corrosive chemicals in small areas.
  • Must be able to use a computer and successfully navigate through various applications.
  • Must be proficient at computer system data entry.
  • Must be able to maneuver in close quarters and climb stairs, ladders, and catwalks on a regular basis.
  • Must be able to stand on concrete floors for long periods of time.
  • Must be able to work in extreme environments (cold, hot, humid and slippery).
  • Must be able to work under challenging conditions such as hot and cold air, wet environments, hot and cold water, hot oil, slick floors and work around various industrial chemicals; inside and outside the plant in a safe manner.
  • Must be able to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Must possess a working knowledge of welding functions.
  • Must be able to read and understand mechanical schematics.

Nice To Haves

  • Trade or technical education is preferred.
  • Previous work experience in industrial maintenance is preferred.
  • Knowledge of food safety practices helpful.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain Company standards for safety, quality, food safety, sanitation and GMPs.
  • Work within safety rules and regulations in actively avoiding injury to self and others.
  • Maintains work area and equipment in a clean, sanitized, organized and operable fashion.
  • Troubleshoots, repairs, and maintains sorter equipment within facility.
  • Inspect and repair electrical and mechanical systems, equipment, or components to identify hazards, defects, or the need for adjustment or repair, and to ensure compliance with codes.
  • Assembles, installs, tests, or maintain equipment.
  • Documents, monitors, maintains, and assists with reporting of shift events, logging
  • Predictive Maintenance data and assist with work planning utilizing information systems and productivity software.
  • May assist Engineering and others in developing plans for electrical and automation systems for capital and other projects.
  • Tests electrical and mechanical systems of the sorters, using testing devices, such as VOMs, or oscilloscopes to ensure compatibility and safety of system.
  • Recommend maintenance SOPS and work with the Maintenance Supervisors and Manager to write required SOS (will facilitate standardization; everyone doing it the same)
  • Review safety, Safe Operating Procedures (SOP), technical drawings, or other documents relevant to complete tasks in a safe and quality manner.
  • Performs preventive/predictive maintenance on all sorter equipment.
  • Maintains all shop inventories, tools and shop equipment.
  • Creates, performs and completes work orders in the system as assigned or as needed, prepares kitting when necessary.
  • Coordinates or schedules additional work as needed.
  • Identifies parts needed for work to be done, conducts inventory searches and locates parts.
  • Uses maintenance enterprise system to enter information pertaining to work performed.
  • Required to participate in CARE safety reporting system.
  • Ensure self-compliance with Company policies, plant procedures, and the Collective Bargaining Agreement.
  • Maintain necessary level of communication with team members and other support groups and does so in a participative management style conducive with operational goals.
  • Ensure that additional duties and accountabilities required by management are handled in a manner necessary to meet operational standards.
