About The Position

Independently serves as a lead educator, developer of curriculum and sonography expert for CEAL internal/external ultrasound events with learners from around the nation/world. Performs quality ultrasound examinations and teaches others those examinations. This includes recognizing abnormalities and artifacts and taking appropriate action to enhance, eliminate and/or monitor and performing educational training studies in a timely and efficient manner, ensuring consistent workflow and high level of productivity. Independently serves as a key liaison with ultrasound vendors to acquire loaner machines for ultrasound training events. Makes recommendations for ultrasound equipment purchase including machines and phantoms. Partners with the CEAL Director of Ultrasound to develop and implement curriculum for ultrasound events for community hospitals and network practices. Partners with the CEAL Director of Ultrasound and the Executive Director of CEAL to facilitate the ultrasound mini-fellowship program. Independently serves as the lead educator for the Vimedix ultrasound simulator assisting faculty, residents, students, and other learners in the use of this equipment. Develops new ultrasound programming for School of Medicine students and clinical enterprise learners. Independently serves as the lead educator and host for open scanning labs for School of Medicine students and clinical faculty. Assists research faculty in the development of protocols and publications using ultrasound equipment. Independently develops standard operating procedures for CEAL ultrasound. Independently serves as the lead educator and host for middle school and high school learners during open houses, summer camps, and immersive experiences. Directs the ultrasound program coordinator with logistics for CEAL ultrasound events. Participates on the hospital Point-of-Care Ultrasound (POCUS) committee. Independently develops reports includingmonthly tracking of ultrasound events and keep accurate inventory for CEAL ultrasound resources. Provides accurate data and documentation of information for departmental records and utilizes appropriate electronic information system(s) accurately to retrieve information. Maintains statistics and data on learner participation in CEAL ultrasound activities. Serves as a primary driver of the CEAL ambulance to move ultrasound machines and equipment to off campus events. Participates in ultrasound research practices including development of Institutional Review Board (IRB) applications and publications as appropriate to highlight CEAL ultrasound programs and associated data. Ensures readiness of equipment and supplies to perform training procedures including reviewing schedule of training events to determine specifications for supplies.

Requirements

  • Completion of an AMA or CMA accredited program in diagnostic ultrasound and an Associate's degree with one-year full-time employment with a teaching component required.
  • Three years clinical experience in General Ultrasound Imaging required.
  • Ability to perform Native renal biopsy guidance.
  • American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonography certification in Abdomen and one additional specialty area (OB/GYN, Neuro, Breast, MSK).
  • Certified in basic cardio-pulmonary resuscitation.
  • Communicates effectively and professionally with physicians, staff, and other Medical Center personnel regarding sonography in patient care
  • Communicates with patients of varying age groups when teaching at bedside
  • Ability to teach and provide instruction and assess quality of other?s work
