Our busy radiology department is currently seeking a PRN Sonographer to join our team! Requirements

  • RDMS registered or registry eligible
  • CPR certificate maintained.

Responsibilities

  • Perform high quality ultrasound procedures as ordered by a physician.
  • Thoroughly explain examination process to patient, all while assisting them throughout the exam to assume appropriate physical positions.
  • Select appropriate scan settings on equipment per specifications of examination.
  • Obtain essential information from patients regarding medical records and previous scan information for clinical correlation.
  • Instruct patients about proper scan preparation and physiological requirements for procedure.
  • Help transfer patients to the sonography exam table and ensure adequate patient immobilization to perform the scan.
  • Appropriately change scanning parameters to improve scans.
  • Obtain diagnostic sonographic images by scanning appropriate body parts with proper transducer.
  • Perform examinations on patients of various age ranges, including pediatrics.
  • Perform ultrasound exams in complete competency while maintaining professional manners.
  • Proficiently work with required computer programs (eClinical Works, PACS, RIS).
  • Send reports to requesting physicians outside of Rapid City Medical Center.
  • Responsible for the upkeep on ultrasound equipment performance and proper maintenance
  • Display a willingness to learn new processes and protocols in addition to Ultrasound responsibilities.
  • Help to schedule patients needing Ultrasound exams.
