Requirements
- Satisfactory completion of an accrediting Diagnostic Sonography Program
- Certification by the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonography
- BLS certification
- Knowledge of anatomy and physiology
- Ability to recognize subtle differences between healthy and pathological areas
- Strong communication skills
Responsibilities
- Takes initiative to confirm orders are accurate.
- Reviews patient history for necessary information (lab results, surgeries, etc.).
- Performs difficult manipulative skills to obtain diagnostic images on all patients (outpatient, inpatient, ER, OR, and portable).
- Uses independent judgment to evaluate images and related data to interpret exams and provides preliminary findings to the radiologist.
- Performs invasive procedures.
- Takes call on a rotating basis.
- Other duties as assigned.
