About The Position

Sonographer Under general supervision, the sonographer provides personal care and professional excellence by performing obstetric and gynecological scans, and minor procedures. This individual must have experience in OB/GYN and hold ARDMS certification. They must possess a strong desire to be a part of a team and willing to work independently in a fast-paced environment while maintaining confidentiality at all times in our nurturing, patient-centered culture. It is preferred that this individual have 3D/4D scanning experience. EXPOSURE TO BLOODBORNE PATHOGENS RULE UNDER OSHA: Class A - All job classifications in Class A have reasonably anticipated skin, eye, mucous membrane or parenteral contact with blood or other potentially infectious materials that may result from performance of an employee's duties. Employees are expected to complete appropriate employer provided education and to properly use PPE, Work Practice Controls and Engineering Controls.

Requirements

  • High School or GED (Required)
  • Successful completion/graduation of diagnostic medical sonography program.
  • ARDMS Certified.
  • BLS Certified.
  • Maintains continuing education requirements.
  • Ability to work flexible hours.
  • Ability to work extra hours to meet deadlines.
  • Working knowledge of multiple computer systems.

Nice To Haves

  • 3 years OB/GYN experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Consistently demonstrates competence in performing all ultrasound techniques and examinations with special attention to obstetrics and gynecology scans, and minor procedures.
  • Demonstrates skill and knowledge in use of all standard ultrasound equipment and a solid foundation in ultrasound theory.
  • Always ensures that an adequate clinical history is available to correlate with the ultrasound examination to be performed; regularly consults with others as necessary to obtain a complete clinical history.
  • Demonstrates competence in all areas of ultrasound positioning, physiology, procedure preparation, and technical factors; operates all ultrasound equipment and can select and modify technical factors as needed.
  • Always checks patient’s identification before any procedure is performed; verifies information with the requisition and patient chart.
  • Always thoroughly explains the procedure about to be performed in order to facilitate cooperation and alleviate patient anxiety; addresses patients concerns about the procedure; explains, instructs and communicates to patients the nature of ultrasound procedure.
  • Always maintains proper sterile techniques for procedures; regularly practices aseptic techniques; always washes hands before and after each patient contact; strictly obeys isolation and infection control procedures.
  • Routinely prepares examinations for interpretation by the physician to include correct identification and processing of films, adequate clinical history, and previous sonograms for comparison.
  • As required, participates in the quality assurance program.
  • Regularly refers to the departmental procedure manual to ensure that all standard views are taken; refers to requisition for any special instructions that the physician may have indicated.
  • Demonstrates an ability to solve job-related problems such as equipment malfunctions, alternate patient positioning, different views, various scans, and the realization of equipment and patient limitations.
  • Regularly checks equipment, accessories and supplies; keeps area stocked at all times, cleans and disinfects equipment after each patient use; daily cleans ultrasound room; maintains supplies as required.
