The Sonographer performs a variety of imaging procedures using independent judgment and technical expertise. Completion of a formal Ultrasound program accredited by CAAHEP (Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs) required.
RDMS certification preferred; registry‑eligible candidates are welcome to apply.
Completion of the Physics portion of the registry exam preferred.
RDMS must be obtained within 12 months of hire.
Basic Life Support (BLS) or Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certification required.
State-mandated clearances (with renewals as applicable): Act 31 – Child Abuse Reporting Act 33 Act 34 Act 73 – FBI Clearance

Responsibilities

Perform high-quality ultrasound exams and procedures following established protocols.
Assist physicians with invasive procedures while strictly following Universal Protocol standards.
Communicate clearly with patients, explain procedures, and help alleviate any anxiety.
Ensure accurate patient identification using two identifiers.
Review patient history and physician orders; document appropriately in the electronic record.
Utilize ultrasound equipment effectively and maintain strong knowledge of instrumentation and imaging techniques.
Obtain optimal image documentation of anatomy in multiple planes and perform accurate measurements.
Ensure all studies are properly coded, tracked, archived (ISITE), and charged through the RIS system.
Participate in High Level Disinfection processes as required.
Collaborate with team members and other departments to ensure efficient, patient-focused care.
