Job Description: Sonographer (Urology Practice) Location: Jackson Heights, NY Schedule: Monday - Friday Organization: New York Health (NYH)- Urology In this role, you will: Travel to assigned NYH locations. Operate ultrasonic diagnostic equipment to examine various parts of the body such as the pelvis, lower and upper abdomen (liver, gallbladder, pancreas, aorta, etc.), retroperitoneal area (kidneys, adrenals), etc. Perform a variety of technical procedures that will require independent judgment with ingenuity and initiative. Transfer and position, provide immobilization devices, as required, to produce diagnostic ultrasound imaging. Select and operate equipment as directed in accordance with prescribed safety standards. Perform QA to images and facilitate the delivery of the images to the PACS System for provider dictation and interpretation. Record patients' vital signs and information during patient intake. Prepare patients for examinations. Sterilize medical equipment and instruments. Assist Providers during visits with examinations and all office procedures. Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Graduation from an accredited school of Ultrasonography and a High School Diploma.
  • Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer (RDMS) certification by the American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS), RDMS (AB) (Required)
  • Sonography Principles and Instrumentation (SPI) Certification (If certification is not held at the time of hire, the employee has 1 year from time of hire to complete certification.)
  • At least 1 year of experience in a healthcare setting
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds at times.
  • Must be able to cover other Progressive Urology Division locations in Queens for scheduled PTO & call outs.
  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Prolonged periods of standing, bending and reaching.
  • Frequent exposure to chemicals, bloodborne pathogens, and patient bodily fluids.

Nice To Haves

  • RVT (Preferred)
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish preferred.
  • Proficiency in OncoEMR (preferred)
