Under the direction of the Maternal-Fetal Medicine physician, the fetal sonographer will perform fetal ultrasound examinations according to the standards set forth by Mercyhealth system and the American Institute of Ultrasound in Medicine. These exams include fetal growth ultrasounds, anatomical evaluations, targeted (level II) ultrasound exams, and fetal doppler velocimetry exams. Assist with continuous guidance during invasive ultrasound procedures. Travel and coverage of various outlying Mercyhealth outreach clinics. ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES Performance of assigned fetal ultrasound examinations. Provides thorough and accurate documentation in the digital reporting software. Effective communication of verbal history and findings to interpreting Maternal-Fetal Medicine Physician. Select and operate appropriate ultrasound transducers and adjust technical factors to guarantee patient safety while still obtaining the highest quality ultrasound image possible (abiding by the ALARA, as low as reasonably achievable, principle). Participation in department quality assurance meetings. Consistently follow established safety rules and regulations. Knowledge of current High-Risk Obstetrical ultrasound practice and guidelines. Evaluate equipment to ensure it is in proper working condition and place appropriate work orders when necessary. Work collaboratively with other partners to provide the utmost quality in patient care and satisfaction.
