About The Position

This Lead Sonographer opportunity may be a great fit for you if you’re ready to take the next step beyond scanning and into a leadership role. The position involves mentoring and training sonographers, ensuring imaging quality and clinic protocols, supporting workflow efficiency, participating in QA initiatives, and serving as a liaison between physicians and sonography staff. You’ll also assist with onboarding, scheduling coordination, equipment oversight, maintaining accreditation standards (including those established by American Institute of Ultrasound in Medicine), and ensuring compliance with documentation policies. Strong communication skills, a calm presence in urgent situations, compassion when delivering information, and effective collaboration with OBs, MFMs, genetic counselors, MAs, PASRS nursing teams, and upper management are essential for success in this role. Job Summary: This position will be primarily based out of Town Hall and West Bend, with responsibility for making schedules at Calhoun and McKinley- and potentially filling in there, as needed. We are looking to make our MFM staff more collectively, and this role will work closely with the MFM Lead Sonographer at MFCC to help optimize scheduling and utilize our team as efficiently as possible. Because of this, there is the possibility to travel to MFCC when needed at main campus to help cover the Lead sonographer there- although this will be limited, it is a possibility. Performs high quality sonography examinations and serves as a lead. Provides guidance and instruction for staff. Coordinates workflow, staff schedules, monitors quality, and works closely with staff, physicians, and other departments to continuously provide and improve service and quality.

  • A minimum of 3 years of current clinical experience is required
  • Graduate in a program accredited by an agency recognized by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA), United States Department of Education (USDOE) or Canadian Medical Association (CMA), specifically conducts programmatic accreditation for diagnostic medical sonography/diagnostic cardiac sonography/vascular technology is required.
  • Currently the only organizations that offer programmatic accreditation under the aforementioned associations are the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP) and the Canadian Medical Association (CMA).
  • American Heart Association (AHA). Basic Life support for the Healthcare provider (BLS) or an American Heart Association (AHA) approved equivalent is required within 90 days of hire.
  • Sonographers will be required to be registered in OB/GYN (OB), Fetal Echo (FE) and Nuchal Translucency (NT) certified. Each registry not obtained at the time hired will need to be completed every 9 months until all registries are complete. Failure to meet requirement within specified time frame will result in dismissal.
  • Candidate must be proficient with ultrasound equipment and have knowledge of Patient Care Equipment.
  • Must be able to motivate staff, independent thinker, good communicator, positive attitude, creativity, humble and have a commitment to excellence.

Nice To Haves

  • A minimum of 5 years of clinical experience and OB/GYN experience is preferred.
  • Associate degree or Bachelors degree in Ultrasound/Sonography is preferred.
  • Familiarity with McKesson PACS, Epic EMR preferred.
