About The Position

The Sonographer in Maternal Fetal Medicine at WellSpan Health is responsible for performing a variety of routine diagnostic ultrasound procedures. This role is essential for providing high-quality imaging services to support patient care in obstetrics and gynecology. The position operates on a PRN (as needed) basis during day shifts, primarily from Monday to Friday, and requires a commitment to maintaining professional standards and compliance with healthcare regulations.

Requirements

• Less than 1 year of relevant experience required.
• Basic Life Support certification upon hire required.
• Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer in one of the following areas upon hire: Abdomen, Breast, Fetal Echocardiography, Neurology, OBGYN, Pediatric, or Vascular Technologist required.
• Completion of an accredited program in ultrasound technology upon hire required.

Responsibilities

• Performs all ultrasound techniques and examinations such as abdominal scans, obstetric and gynecological scans, and vascular scans.
• Schedules cases to coordinate with other patient examinations.
• Positions and transfers patients safely and comfortably and explains basic procedures.
• Selects proper technical factors on an individual patient basis.
• Selects and operates equipment as needed to perform required exams.
• Maintains equipment in efficient operating order; performs preventative maintenance on a regularly scheduled basis; contacts outside service for major malfunctions.
• Prepares and maintains written documentation as required by the profession and the department.
• Knowledge and use of digital image storage systems such as PACS.
• Directs patients to rooms and obtains vitals of patients.
