About The Position

As a Sonographer Regional Lead, you’ll be the key point of support for Sonographers across our northern region helping manage daily workflow, maintain clinical standards, and ensure a positive team experience. You’ll manage roster creation, skillset allocation and workflow efficiency to ensure clinics run smoothly and minimise machine idle time. You’ll also oversee leave approvals and timesheet reviews to balance team support with operational requirements. You’ll provide day-to-day leadership, communicate updates clearly, and collaborate with Radiologists, Clinical Trainers and operational leaders to maintain strong communication and service continuity. You’ll also support performance discussions when required and help foster an inclusive, engaged team culture. You’ll contribute to clinical quality by completing scan or process reviews, supporting complaint resolution, and assisting with protocol updates, quality assurance activities and workflow improvement initiatives. You’ll support education and development, working with Clinical Trainers to assist students and trainees, while promoting CPD participation across the team. You’ll work closely with the Sonographer Regional Manager to strengthen the Sonography service by identifying operational issues early, recommending practical solutions, and assisting with recruitment when needed. This is a hybrid scanning and administrative role with a minimum requirement of 3 days scanning and 1 day paid time to complete administrative duties that are outlined but not limited to above. The requirement to travel to Toowoomba as part of the Northern region for a staff visit at least once every 6 months.

Requirements

  • Current ASAR registration as a Medical Sonographer (essential)
  • Experience mentoring or supporting Sonographers or trainees
  • Confidence with rostering and workflow coordination
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to build positive, trusting relationships
  • A balanced approach to decision-making, considering team wellbeing, operational needs, and patient outcomes
  • A commitment to learning, improvement, and raising clinical standards

  • Willingness to travel to regional sites as required
