About The Position

Full time, weekday opportunity for an Ultrasound/Vascular Technologist for Atrium Health Wake Forest Baptist, in Winston-Salem, NC. The position involves assisting the provider in the delivery of health care by performing diagnostic ultrasound exams, producing, assessing, and evaluating images and related data used to determine a medical diagnosis.

Requirements

  • Associate's degree (or Two-Year Professional Program) in ultrasound training from an AMA approved school.
  • One-year clinical experience in the field of study to be performed.
  • Currently Certified as a Registered Vascular Sonographer with ARDMS.
  • Current CPR certification required.
  • Maintains minimum continuing education credits.

Responsibilities

  • Take a thorough vascular history and assess the patient's vascular status as it relates to the type of testing ordered.
  • Write preliminary reports on inpatient charts and call preliminary reports to referring providers when necessary.
  • Perform tests ordered by the provider in a timely and professional manner.
  • Assist the reading provider by analyzing and evaluating the results of the study.
  • Select appropriate transducers and adjust controls for examinations to optimize consistently image quality according to patient's size and the objective of the exam.
  • Explain to patients and family members each examination to be performed and professionally answer any questions they may have.
  • Provide the patient with comfort, privacy, and instructions to assure a high quality result.
  • Ensure efficient and proper functioning of ultrasound equipment and cleaning according to manufacturer's specifications.
  • Provide input for equipment and supply purchases.
  • Communicate equipment malfunctions as appropriate.
  • Responsible for specific quality assurance and control duties in the assigned area.
  • Generate a work atmosphere that maintains a positive attitude toward teamwork.
  • Maintain a work area that is clean, orderly, and stocked with necessary supplies.
  • Communicate with referring offices as necessary.
  • Practice universal precautions.
