About The Position

Expertly performs routine and specialized sonography procedures of high complexity to produce high-quality diagnostic images for physicians and other healthcare providers. These images support the diagnosis, treatment, monitoring, and prevention of injury and disease. Works independently while exercising sound judgment and advanced clinical expertise in complex diagnostic procedures and situations, delivering accurate and timely results. Builds confidence and cooperation with patients, their families/support systems, and other healthcare providers through thorough patient assessment, attentive monitoring, and effective communication. Adheres to all local, state, and federal regulations, as well as organizational codes, policies, and procedures, to ensure patient privacy, safety, and the delivery of optimal care. May also be responsible for performing specialized procedures and/or orienting and training new staff within the department.

Requirements

  • Graduation from an accredited formal Diagnostic Medical Sonography Program OR possession of ARDMS evidencing completion of a Diagnostic Medical Sonography program
  • ARDMS-American Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer Upon Hire
  • BLS-Basic Life Support Healthcare Provider Upon Hire
  • Must possess three of the following: RVT-Registered Vascular Technician Upon Hire, AB-Abdomen certification Upon Hire, BR-Breast certification Upon Hire, Fetal Echocardiography (FE) certification Upon Hire, OB/GYN-Obstetrics & Gynecology Upon Hire, PS-Pediatric Sonography Upon Hire
  • 5 years of recent relevant experience.
  • Advanced knowledge of diagnostic sonography principles, procedures, views, and equipment, including substantial experience responding to traumas, code blues, medical alerts, STAT calls, and various hospital emergencies.
  • Skilled in performing sonographic examinations with an extensive understanding of human anatomy, physiology, pathology, and medical terminology so as to recognize, prioritize and communicate suspicious or abnormal results.
  • Possess written and verbal communications skills to explain sensitive information clearly and professionally to diverse audiences, including non-medical people.
  • Time management and organizational skills, including the ability to prioritize assignments and work within standardized operating procedures and scientific methods to achieve objectives and meet deadline.
  • Robust knowledge of computer applications, such as Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel and Outlook) and related information systems (Radiology (RIS), laboratory (LIS), electronic health records (EHR), EPIC, and picture archive and communication system (PACS).
  • Prioritize activities and work within defined policies, procedures, and practices to achieve objectives and meet deadlines; help determine appropriate approach for new assignments.
  • Work independently, as well as be part of the team, including accomplishing multiple tasks in an environment with interruptions.
  • Use experience and existing precedents or procedures to resolve atypical or infrequent problems; provide informal guidance and support to junior team members.
  • Ensure the privacy of each patient’s protected health information (PHI).
  • Build collaborates relationships with peers and other healthcare providers to achieve departmental and corporate objectives.
