About The Position

BONUS ELIGIBLE - $20K for full-time new or experienced Sonographers! Autonomously performs complex diagnostic ultrasound imaging procedures for patients of all ages, under the supervision of qualified physicians for diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of disease. Diagnostic sonographers take the initiative to confirm the imaging orders for completeness and accuracy. Reviews patient history and supporting clinical data for medical necessity. Responsible for contacting the ordering physician if an inadequate reason for test is supplied. Sonographers utilize advanced knowledge to perform diagnostic procedures (inpatient and outpatient settings, including portable and O.R. examinations) by producing, assessing, and evaluating ultrasound images and related data. Sonographers are required to exercise independent judgment in the interpretation and analysis of exams and provide a preliminary diagnosis of the technical findings to the physician.

Requirements

  • Associated Degree or completion of a Certification Program in Ultrasonography, Diagnostic Medical Sonography, or Radiology.
  • ARDMS registered (or registry eligible) in the areas of abdomen, obstetrics/gynecology (OB/GYN), vascular technology (RVT) or Cardiac echo (RDCS).
  • Registry eligible candidates must become ARDMS or registered in abdomen within 6 months of employment.
  • ARDMS/CCI registered in adult echo or vascular within 1 year of employment.
  • Certified as a Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer (RDMS) or RDCS by the American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS) or Registered Vascular Sonographer (RVS) or Registered Cardiac Sonographer (RCS) by Cardiovascular Credentialing International (CCI) within 1 year of employment.
  • Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) Certification from American Heart Association or the American Red Cross.

Responsibilities

  • Perform complex diagnostic ultrasound imaging procedures for patients of all ages.
  • Confirm imaging orders for completeness and accuracy.
  • Review patient history and supporting clinical data for medical necessity.
  • Contact the ordering physician if an inadequate reason for test is supplied.
  • Produce, assess, and evaluate ultrasound images and related data.
  • Exercise independent judgment in the interpretation and analysis of exams.
  • Provide a preliminary diagnosis of the technical findings to the physician.
  • Assess patients appropriately for the procedures ordered prior to, during, and after treatment.
  • Take part in the training of students and staff as assigned.
  • Create a safe, comfortable, and therapeutic environment for patients and families.
  • Prepare patients, collect relevant information for completion of procedures, and perform sonographic exams following defined protocols.
  • Observe patients' conditions and notify physician of unusual occurrences.
  • Compile appropriate records to expedite results.
  • Analyze the quality of images and processes as required.
  • Complete data sheet containing pertinent patient information following exam prior to forwarding to radiologist or Cardiologist.
  • Explain procedures using the AIDET process and ensure safety and comfort during exams.
  • Follow department specific standard work and departmental policies.
  • Practice aseptic techniques and good infection control procedures consistent with hospital policy.
  • Secure and return supplies and maintain orderliness and cleanliness of the work areas between each patient.
