About The Position

The Sonographer is responsible for performing high quality diagnostic exams/procedures in the Ultrasound department in an efficient manner according to the physician’s order. The Sonographer works effectively with patients and physicians and maintains cooperative relationships with interdepartmental personnel.

Requirements

• Must be a graduate of an accredited school of sonography, registered by ARDMS and/or CCI within 6 months of hire.
• Must have BLS upon hire or 30 days post hire date.
• Vascular and/or echocardiography experience is desirable.
• Experience with Arkansas Department of Health requirements and a clear understanding of hospital operations is required.

• Registered applicants in RDCS and RVT.

Responsibilities

• Complete studies in a timely and efficient manner utilizing downtime to assist others where needed.
• Assures exam charges and 5 day late list are checked daily for the ultrasound department.
• Organizes workload during high volume to expedite patient care and communicates to other technologists all pending exams and any pertinent information.
• Assists the physician in performing radiology procedures.
• Promotes positive relationships at the department level and discusses concerns with the supervisor and presents the department in a positive manner to other employees and staff.
• Maintains supplies with a minimum inventory and develops new methods of supply utilization.
• Handles equipment in a safe and appropriate manner within guidelines and policies of WRMC and the Ultrasound/Non-Invasive department.
• Maintains clean work area and follows equipment cleaning policies.
• Assures exterior surfaces of the machines are wiped down after each workday and between patients as appropriate.
• Follow the 'on-call' policy by responding to call back within acceptable time-frame and arriving in the department within 30 minutes after being called in.
• Willingly assist with procedures in any area of radiology when needed.
• Check with co-workers during downtime for need of assistance.
• Follows attendance and tardy policies.
• Follows WRMC dress code and appearance policy.
• Participates in required hospital and department in-services and meetings.
• Follows safety and infection control policies.
• Performs other duties as assigned by supervision.
