About The Position

The University of Rochester is seeking a dedicated individual to provide routine technical support for a research lab or facility within the Imaging Sciences-Ultrasound department. This position involves collecting, analyzing, and processing laboratory samples or research data, performing a variety of tests using routine techniques and methods, and assisting in report writing. The role also includes setting up equipment and materials for course instruction and collaborating on the design of new projects, techniques, or methods. The position is full-time, scheduled for 40 hours per week, specifically from Wednesday to Saturday, 7 PM to 6:30 AM.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in diagnostic medical sonography required or Associate's degree and certificate in diagnostic medical sonography required.
• Registered or registry eligible by the ARDMS upon hire required.
• Non-registered sonographers must obtain ARDMS Abdominal and OB/GYN certifications within 1 year.

Responsibilities

• Performs ultrasound imaging and therapy in accordance with applicable scope and standards of practice and with the policies, values, and mission of the organization.
• Adjusts equipment controls as needed to produce high quality images and prepares/presents them, with other pertinent patient information, for timely interpretation.
• Educates patients/families regarding procedure and/or treatment to be performed.
• Prepares room and patient specific to exam to be performed.
• Uses an established work pattern to work efficiently and safely within an ultrasound environment.
• Reviews patient history and physician's orders.
• Educates patient regarding procedures, equipment and exam to ensure patient's understanding and cooperation.
• Maintains accurate patient record keeping by properly identifying images and ensuring images are sent to the PACS system correctly.
• Performs and evaluates equipment quality control measurements.
• Adheres to safety policies.
• Other duties as assigned.
