About The Position
We are hiring technicians to document the response of birds to habitat treatments on Parker Mountain, Utah, with special emphasis on sage grouse and songbirds. Housing and work vehicles are provided. The positions will be from May 18 to August 14, 2026. Weekly hours will vary with weather, schedule, holidays, and other time off.
Requirements
- Valid driver’s license to perform essential job responsibilities, such as driving university vehicles and transporting materials
- Available and willing to live on-site in provided housing
- Available and willing to work a variable schedule from May 18 to August 14, 2026
Nice To Haves
- Prior experience with fieldwork, bird identification, and radio telemetry
Responsibilities
- songbird surveys (by sight and sound)
- deployment of autonomous recording units (ARUs)
- sage grouse pellet surveys
- use of working dogs to detect sage grouse
- capturing sage grouse
- tracking sage grouse using radio telemetry
