The Naval & Oceanic Systems business unit headquartered in Annapolis, MD is seeking dependable individuals willing to work in a collaborative environment and that are interested in expanding their horizons. The Hardware Engineering Department is seeking a front-line Supervisor to lead one of the SONAR Engineering Groups and the entire Dolphin Works lab administratively.

  • Functional management of ~12 engineers.
  • Coordinating personnel career development and training.
  • Workload forecasting.
  • Implementation of engineering process improvement initiatives.
  • Performance reviews and merit planning.
  • Estimating and proposal development.
  • Budget and schedule development.
  • Technical reviews and recruitment, interviewing and hiring.
  • Providing technical oversight and execution leadership in the design, analysis, build and test of complex SONAR systems hardware.
  • Managing the DolphinWorks sonar innovation lab.
  • Interfacing with facilities maintenance teams for physical plant support.
  • Interfacing with campus leadership for sources of internal funding.
  • Informing investments and ongoing sustainment of the AEDN (Annapolis Engineering Development Network).
  • Interfacing with Government Representatives and other contractors.
  • BS in Electrical, Aerospace, Materials, Mechanical, Marine or Ocean Engineering, or a related field with 8+ years of experience or a Master’s degree in a related field with 6+ years of experience.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work within diverse, multidisciplinary teams.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and motivate teams as a functional manager, program manager, Integrated Product Team (IPT) lead, and/or other significant leadership role.
  • Proficiency in using common engineering design, production and office tools (including PSpice, DxDesigner/Expedition, Unigraphics, MATLAB, and ANSYS/COMSOL, NX, TeamCenter, FEA, MS Office, PDM systems).
  • US citizen and possess an active Secret clearance to start with the ability and willingness to obtain a TS/SSBI and pass a polygraph.
  • Experience with underwater/naval systems such as Torpedo's, Towed Vehicles, Unmanned Underwater Vehicles (UUV), Submarines, etc.
  • Background in Sonar arrays, sensors, communication arrays, transducers or radar.
  • Experience in Design, Manufacture, and Test of Sonar Transducer Systems.
  • Familiarity with electrical test equipment (oscilloscopes, network analyzers, spectrum analyzers, etc).
  • Previous design or testing experience with Comms/Sonar/Radar receivers.
  • An interest in seeing production sonar systems through manufacturing and test, locally, with the possibility of travel to field sites for final sell-off testing.
  • A current TS/SSBI/SCI clearance to start and the ability and willingness to obtain a TS/SSBI and pass a polygraph.
