Position Summary The Sommelier is responsible for the development, management, and growth of the Wine Program, as well as assisting in the creation of the wine list. The Sommelier is responsible for assisting staff members and guests during dinner service with wine recommendations and selection for perfect pairing with their dinner.

Requirements

  • Candidate must be able to stand, lift and bend for extended periods of time.
  • Candidate must be able to bend and lift to 50 lbs.
  • Role may include job duties or tasks requiring repetitive motion.
  • Candidate must be able to work a flexible schedule inclusive of varying shifts such as days, evenings, weekends, and holidays.

Nice To Haves

  • 1-2 years in a similar position preferred

Responsibilities

  • Assists Beverage Manager with monthly beverage inventory counts, bin storage, and cellar organization.
  • Restocks wine cellar by-the-glass wines and dining room wine coolers.
  • Reviews weekly sales reports with the Beverage Manager.
  • Maintains cleanliness and organization in all beverage storage rooms and coolers.
  • Assists Beverage Manager in developing staff knowledge and enthusiasm with informative pre-shift notes, seminars, and tastings.
  • Follows bar program & scheduling while maintaining service standards and quality control
  • Conducts month-end inventory counts, checks in the day’s deliveries, stocks product
  • Conducts regular seminars and a weekly testing program (as applicable)
  • Ensures that all guests feel welcome and are always given professional service
  • Can always handle pressure and stress in a professional manner.
  • Certifies that all food and drinks are prepared according to restaurant standards.
  • Controls cash and other receipts in accordance with the company’s accounting guidelines.
  • Maintains cleanliness and sanitation of entire venue in accordance with the Health Department.
  • Protects establishment, guests, and employees by adhering to Department of Health and company sanitation standards.
  • Reports all breakage, damage of equipment or furniture immediately to management.
  • Maintains professional appearance standards as directed in the Employee Handbook.
  • Anticipate and accommodate the needs of the guests while providing professional and exceptional service to ensure guest satisfaction.
