The Solvent Recovery/Tank Farm (SR/TF) Operator is responsible for operating and monitoring equipment pertaining to the Solvent Recovery, Tank Farm, and Cryogenic Recovery systems including distillation and other separation technology, heat transfer, cryogenic services, and bulk offloading and loading. This role will be required to work on shift as the process requires. This position will also participate in the implementation of new equipment and their systems as they come online. This position reports to the Manager, Solvent Recovery and is part of the Bioprocess Operations Team located in Muskegon, Michigan and will be an on-site role.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • 3+ years of manufacturing experience and works well in a cross-functional team and is highly adaptable.
  • Hands-on experience with mechanical systems, including pumps, valves, or chemical processing equipment.
  • Ability to travel – Prepared to travel to Sweden or regionally for initial training and as necessary.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record.
  • Frequently move, lift, carry, push or pull weights up to 50 pounds unassisted and occasionally lift/move weights greater than 50 pounds with assistance.
  • Ability to continuously stand or walk as well as frequently climb stairs and ladders; squat, stoop, kneel, crouch, turn, pivot and reach; frequently use fingers or hands to grasp, clamp, move, finer, handle, and feel small objects.
  • Complete necessary fit tests and wear all required PPE which could include respirator, SCBA, or air hood.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with chemical processes including distillation or other separation technologies, heat transfer, and/or tank farm fluid handling and distribution is highly preferred.
  • Experience with operating Distributed Control Systems (DCS) is highly preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Participate in the implementation of new equipment, including operation and the development of new SOP’s.
  • Execute site acceptance testing and transition to normal operation including offloading and loading bulk tank trucks.
  • Operate, monitor, and maintain chemical process equipment to ensure safe, efficient, and compliant production and reporting process deviations or safety concerns.
  • Follow company safety policies including PPE usage, lockout/tagout, permit to work, etc.
  • Follow good housekeeping activities, including 5S principles.
