Solutions Architecture & Sales Engineering - AI

Aleut FederalColorado Springs, VA
$150,000 - $225,000

About The Position

Aleut Federal is seeking a senior, market-facing technical leader specializing in AI-enabled solutions, agentic systems, and production AI delivery across U.S. federal environments. This role operates across the full lifecycle - from opportunity shaping and technical solutioning through capture, proposal development, pricing, and post-award delivery assurance. The successful candidate will directly influence technical win strategies while maintaining accountability for production execution. The ideal candidate is a hands-on AI architect and builder who can design, prototype, operationalize, and govern AI systems that are secure, scalable, and mission-relevant. This role requires the ability to translate AI capabilities into differentiated federal solutions while ensuring those solutions can be delivered, sustained, and defended in real operating environments. This is a build, sell, and validate role with direct impact on technical wins, solution differentiation, and delivery outcomes. Aleut Federal expects AI to be a core engineering and delivery capability in this role, not a theoretical specialty. This role requires deep practical experience with agentic systems, including multi-step reasoning and task orchestration, tool-using agents that interact with APIs, enterprise systems, retrieval layers, workflow engines, and external services, and human-in-the-loop execution models. The position is AI and agentic systems-focused, growth-driven with direct impact on technical wins, hands-on and delivery accountable, production-oriented (not theoretical), and mission-aligned and operationally credible.

Requirements

  • U.S. Citizenship (U.S. Citizens only).
  • 7+ years of U.S. federal experience with a Bachelor’s degree.
  • Demonstrated hands-on experience designing and implementing AI-enabled systems.
  • Demonstrated experience with one or more of the following: LLM applications, RAG architectures, agentic systems, or AI-enabled workflow automation.
  • Experience supporting technical solutioning, capture, proposal development, and customer-facing technical engagements.
  • Ability to obtain a Position of Public Trust.
  • Demonstrated hands-on experience designing and implementing AI-enabled applications or workflows.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience delivering AI systems in production federal or enterprise environments.
  • Experience implementing agentic workflows with tool use, orchestration, and human oversight.
  • Experience integrating AI with cloud, data, or platform ecosystems.
  • Experience with secure AI deployment, monitoring, and governance.
  • Active Top Secret clearance.
  • AWS Certified Machine Learning - Specialty
  • Microsoft Azure AI Engineer Associate
  • Google Professional Machine Learning Engineer
  • Relevant cloud, data, or MLOps certifications aligned to implementation depth

Responsibilities

  • Lead technical solutioning for AI-based federal opportunities, including generative AI and LLM-enabled applications, retrieval-augmented generation (RAG), agentic workflows, AI-enabled automation, and decision support systems.
  • Directly influence and help drive technical wins by defining AI-based discriminators and technical win themes, leading customer-facing AI discussions, architecture sessions, demos, and whiteboarding engagements, and translating AI capabilities into measurable mission, operational, and economic outcomes.
  • Partner with Business Development and Capture to shape opportunities pre-RFP and strengthen competitive positioning.
  • Present and defend AI solution approaches to technical, mission, and executive stakeholders.
  • Design and implement systems with guardrails, fallback logic, validation layers, escalation controls, memory and context handling, and clear tradeoff decisions between prompting, retrieval workflows, deterministic orchestration, and true agentic execution.
  • Lead and contribute to technical proposal development for AI opportunities.
  • Author and own complete technical sections, including AI architecture, model and retrieval strategy, agentic workflow design, security and governance model, and implementation approach.
  • Build BOEs aligned to engineering effort, data preparation and integration, model access and infrastructure cost, and sustainment.
  • Ensure AI solutions are executable, secure, and clearly differentiated.
  • Ensure alignment between proposed AI architectures and delivered implementations.
  • Provide technical oversight during prototype-to-production transition, data integration, retrieval setup, model integration, and workflow deployment.
  • Identify and mitigate risks related to hallucinations, output reliability, data leakage, access control, workflow instability, latency, cost, governance gaps, and auditability.
  • Develop AI-focused solution briefs, use cases, and capability messaging.
  • Actively participate in industry events, executive discussions, customer briefings, demos, and technical forums and be willing to speak credibly on agentic systems, production AI architecture, and responsible AI in federal environments.
  • Position Aleut Federal as a credible AI delivery partner - not just an AI advisory brand.
