About The Position

As a Solutions Architect, you will play a pivotal role within Brightflag’s Professional Services team, acting as the technical and functional owner of integrations between Brightflag and customer systems. You will lead customer-facing discovery, translate business and technical requirements into clear integration designs, and partner closely with implementation and engineering teams to deliver reliable, scalable API-based integrations. In this role, you will design and document integration architectures—primarily with Accounts Payable and related financial systems—including data mappings, API interactions, validation rules, and test plans. You will guide each integration from design through testing and deployment, ensuring requirements are well-defined, risks are surfaced early, and outcomes meet both customer and platform standards. Beyond individual projects, you will help define and continuously improve how Brightflag approaches integration work. This includes driving standardization, improving documentation and design practices, and identifying opportunities to increase efficiency and quality through automation and AI-assisted tooling. Success in this role requires strong communication and stakeholder-management skills, the ability to explain complex technical concepts in clear business terms, and a mindset focused on building better systems and processes—not just executing today’s playbook, but helping shape the next one.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Business Analysis, or equivalent practical experience
  • 5+ years of experience designing and delivering API-based system integrations in a customer-facing environment
  • Strong understanding of RESTful APIs, data formats (JSON, XML), integration patterns, and common authentication mechanisms; familiarity with SOAP is a plus
  • Experience designing and documenting data mappings, validation rules, and integration requirements across multiple systems
  • Experience integrating with Accounts Payable or financial systems (e.g., Oracle, NetSuite, Coupa, SAP)
  • Familiarity with integration platforms or middleware concepts (e.g., MuleSoft, Dell Boomi, Apache Camel) and API testing or documentation tools (e.g., Postman, SoapUI, Swagger)
  • Demonstrated excellence in customer-facing communication, with the ability to translate complex technical concepts into clear business language
  • Proven ability to own and coordinate integration workstreams, including stakeholder alignment, timeline management, and delivery tracking
  • Knowledge of project management methodologies or tools (e.g., Agile, Jira, Asana) is a plus
  • A continuous improvement mindset, with experience refining processes, standardizing approaches, or improving delivery efficiency through automation or tooling
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to diagnose and resolve complex integration issues

Nice To Haves

  • Proficiency in Java, Python, or a similar programming language

Responsibilities

  • Engage directly with customers to lead discovery sessions, clarify integration requirements, and communicate technical concepts clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Architect and document scalable integration solutions connecting Brightflag to external systems (Accounts Payable, Document Management, Matter Management, and more).
  • Translate business requirements into technical specifications, including data mappings, API definitions, authentication requirements, and workflow design.
  • Partner with developers and product teams to ensure integrations are built using best practices and aligned to overall solution architecture.
  • Drive project management for integration workstreams: maintaining timelines, coordinating stakeholders, facilitating testing cycles, and ensuring high-quality delivery.
  • Support and guide customers through testing by preparing data sets, creating test plans, and validating integration functionality, performance, and reliability.
  • Troubleshoot issues to quickly identify root causes and determine whether to resolve directly or escalate to engineering.
  • Define, refine, and optimize Brightflag’s integration methodologies—including process documentation, templates, QA standards, and repeatable implementation patterns.
  • Identify opportunities to streamline integration work using automation, AI tools, standardized components, and improved workflows.
  • Develop lightweight scripts or transformations when needed to support integration scenarios (nice-to-have, not the core focus).

Benefits

  • Compensation range of $110k to $150k (Geo Dependent)
