About The Position

The Solutions Architect will serve as the technical lead for designing, developing, and implementing advanced mission-critical solutions for the Department of War (DoD), allied defense agencies, and commercial industry partners. This role combines deep technical expertise with a strategic understanding of both defense and commercial tech-based mission requirements, ensuring system architectures meet stringent performance, security, and compliance standards while aligning with customer objectives. The Solutions Architect will collaborate closely with program managers, system engineers, cybersecurity professionals, and customer stakeholders to deliver innovative solutions across command-and-control systems, data analytics platforms, AI/ML-enabled capabilities, and next-generation defense and commercial technologies.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Systems Engineering, or related technical field (Master’s preferred).
  • 8+ years of experience in systems architecture, solutions engineering, or related roles within the defense or aerospace sectors.
  • Demonstrated experience designing and implementing solutions aligned with DoD or federal frameworks (e.g., RMF, NIST, Zero Trust).
  • Expertise in one or more of the following: cloud architectures (AWS GovCloud, Azure Government), AI/ML platforms, C5ISR systems, cybersecurity architectures, or mission systems integration.
  • Strong understanding of DoD acquisition lifecycle, MIL-STDs, and system interoperability requirements.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to brief senior leaders and technical audiences.

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s degree in Systems Engineering, Cybersecurity, or related discipline.
  • Industry certifications such as TOGAF, DoDAF, AWS/Azure Solutions Architect, CISSP, or PMP.
  • Cloud Certification Preferred.
  • Experience with DevSecOps pipelines, containerization (e.g., Kubernetes), and model-based systems engineering (MBSE).
  • Prior experience with defense prime contractors or direct DoD program support.

Responsibilities

  • Develop enterprise-level solution architectures for defense systems, ensuring scalability, security, and compliance with DoD and federal standards (e.g., NIST, RMF, Zero Trust).
  • Translate complex operational requirements into actionable technical designs, diagrams, and system specifications.
  • Serve as the primary technical interface between internal engineering teams, business development, and customer stakeholders.
  • Guide development teams through system implementation, integration, and testing phases.
  • Support capture and proposal efforts by defining technical approaches, creating architecture diagrams, and developing cost-effective solutions.
  • Contribute to technical volumes for RFPs/RFIs and present solutions to defense customers as needed.
  • Evaluate emerging technologies (e.g., AI/ML, cloud-native systems, edge computing, C5ISR systems) for defense applications.
  • Lead prototyping and proof-of-concept activities to validate architectural designs.
  • Ensure all solutions comply with DoD cybersecurity requirements, export control regulations, and industry best practices.
  • Support accreditation efforts such as ATO (Authority to Operate) processes.
