This includes developing technical program/project management best practices/templates and providing training/mentoring to project teams, monitoring dependencies across multiple inter-related technical projects, and gathering and reporting consolidated technical project status and financial information to leadership. In some organizations, the PMO may serve as a central governing body to review/audit adherence to methodologies, budgets, and timing, and may provide full staffing and management for the organization's major technical projects/programs. Technical Project Management requires specific technical knowledge to plan, organize, and control resources, procedures, and timing for a technical process or project. This includes developing detailed work plans, schedules, project estimates, resource plans, and status reports, conducting risk analysis, and monitoring the progress of plans against project milestones and budgets. The role also involves providing technical and analytical guidance to the project team, ensuring adherence to quality standards and review of project deliverables, and analyzing and documenting requirements by liaising with a range of users in the organization. On some projects, where applicable, the PMO manages the integration of vendor tasks and tracks and reviews vendor deliverables.
