The Solution Development Manager (SDM) acts as the key liaison between Sales and Services Delivery, driving service opportunities from concept through successful project completion. This role is responsible for scoping solutions, developing Statements of Work (SOWs), and ensuring alignment of business needs with technical deliverables. The SDM partners closely with customers and internal teams to deliver creative, risk-aware solutions that achieve client success and support company growth.

  • Partner with Sales and Account Management to identify, scope, and sell services opportunities.
  • Build and maintain strong client relationships as a trusted advisor.
  • Translate customer business needs into technical deliverables, proposals, and SOWs.
  • Contributes to the service sales quota and overall business growth.
  • Coordinate resources to scope opportunities, secure approvals/funding, and develop project documentation.
  • Ensure smooth transitions from Sales to Services Delivery, participating in status meetings through project closure.
  • Support solution areas including implementation, engineering, education/training, and consulting.
  • Provide customer feedback to influence future service offerings and product alignment.
  • Developing client roadmaps for ongoing projects.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert in solution development, guiding both customers and internal teams on best practices.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement of solution development processes, templates, and methodologies.
  • Collaborate with Marketing and Sales on service messaging, case studies, and thought leadership.
  • Mentor colleagues to strengthen solution development capabilities across the organization.
  • Conduct Windchill technical assessments in partnership with sales teams and clients to align solutions with business needs.
  • Perform other duties as assigned, based on company needs.
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Business, IT, or Engineering (or equivalent experience).
  • 2+ years in services sales or 5+ years in IT, engineering, or related environments.
  • Must have prior experience with PTC products (Windchill, Creo).
  • Strong communication, presentation, and relationship-building skills.
  • Excellent problem-solving, organizational, and prioritization abilities.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Financial acumen with ability to estimate project costs.
  • Experience with contract negotiation and risk management in services engagements.
  • Familiarity with Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) tools and engineering processes.
  • Working knowledge of IT environments, including infrastructure, security, and system compatibility.
  • Project management certification (PMP, PMI-ACP, or similar) a plus.
  • Background in pre-sales, solution architecture, or consulting strongly preferred.
