Buckland is looking for a Business Systems Solution Architect The Role The Business Systems Solution Architect is a senior, hands-on technical leader responsible for designing, improving, and scaling business systems architecture that supports Buckland’s clients, internal operations, and regulatory requirements. The role translates complex business, operational, and compliance needs into clear, scalable, and supportable software and technical designs, enabling delivery teams to build resilient, production‑ready solutions. While not a people manager, the Architect provides end‑to‑end ownership from discovery through release and elevates solution quality through technical rigor, consistent standards, strong documentation, and modern DevOps practices.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, Business, or a related discipline
  • 7+ years in solutions architecture, systems design, or senior technical analysis roles (or equivalent experience).
  • Proven experience translating complex operational requirements into functional + technical designs that teams can build.
  • Strong knowledge of modern integration patterns (APIs, batch/file, event-driven concepts) and data movement practices.
  • ERP support and implementation experience (preferably D365 F&O / FSCM)
  • Strong business process automation experience leveraging easily maintainable low code / no code solutions such as Power Automate, Logic Apps or similar.
  • Strong data integration experience with the ability to connect diverse systems via an API-first approach.
  • Strong background in data warehousing leveraging ETL tools such as Data Factory.
  • Experience with production support considerations: logging, monitoring, resiliency, performance, and release practices.
  • Strong documentation capability (clear specs, diagrams, decision records, and standards).
  • Must be legally eligible to work for the Company in CAD or the USA at all times.
  • Valid Passport and ability to occasionally travel if required to other offices locations in CAD/USA/MEX.

Responsibilities

  • Solution Architecture & Design Lead and own end‑to‑end solution architecture and design from discovery through production readiness, translating business, operational, and compliance needs into clear functional and technical designs.
  • Define reusable, enterprise‑aligned architecture patterns (workflows, integrations, data, reporting) that meet security, performance, auditability, maintainability, and high‑availability standards.
  • Delivery Enablement Partner closely with Technology Services, BAs, DevOps/Infrastructure, and Operations to ensure designs are implementable, testable, supportable, and scalable.
  • Mentor and guide delivery teams on software architecture best practices, providing targeted hands‑on support for complex integrations, data modeling, and architecture spikes as needed.
  • Quality, Standards & Documentation Discipline Establish and reinforce shared design standards, templates, review checkpoints, and documentation discipline, including traceability and decision logging.
  • Drive continuous improvement in architecture design and delivery to ensure secure, efficient, scalable, and operationally ready systems.
  • Release Management & DevOps Ensure solutions are production‑ready with well‑defined deployment plans, release sequencing, rollback strategies, and operational runbooks.
  • Support and advocate for DevOps and CI/CD practices, including environment strategy, monitoring and alerting thresholds, incident readiness, and modern development approaches (TDD/BDD).
  • Stakeholder Alignment Facilitate alignment across business stakeholders, operations, compliance, and engineering to ensure shared understanding and execution.
  • Communicate design intent, trade‑offs, and risk decisions clearly to both technical and non‑technical audiences.
  • Innovation & Forward‑Looking Technology Maintain a forward‑looking perspective on emerging technologies, assessing fit based on value, risk, cost, and long‑term maintainability.
  • Identify opportunities to improve speed, quality, and scalability through new tools, patterns, automation, and targeted evaluations (spikes/POCs) with documented recommendations and trade‑offs.
