About The Position

Skilled work performing Seminole County solid waste operations using tractor trailers, light equipment and heavy equipment. Salary will be determined depending on qualifications of candidates who exceed the minimum requirements as outlined within the job description. Additional compensation based on licensure. Requirements

• High School Diploma/GED and three (3) years' experience required.
• A comparable amount of education, training, or experience may be substituted for the minimum qualifications.
• Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
• Must possess and maintain a valid Florida Class A Commercial Driver's License (CDL).
• All employees must attend Seminole County required trainings. Department specific trainings per position may be required.

Responsibilities

• Performs skilled operation in a majority of solid waste equipment including bulldozers, compactors, front end loaders, material handlers, excavators, skid steers, farm tractors, mowers, shuttles, and road tractors with multiple types of trailers.
• Responsible for properly conducting pre-trip inspections and applicable maintenance on all solid waste equipment assigned and completing required paperwork.
• May be utilized in the training of new employees.
• Perform other related work as required.
• In the event of an emergency, all employees are considered essential personnel and may be required to perform alternate duties.
• Operate a majority of the equipment within Solid Waste to Seminole County standards.
• Perform daily pre/post trip inspections and maintenance on equipment and vehicles, keep accurate documentation.
• Turn in documentation daily to supervisor.
• Follow all safety policies and State and Federal guidelines and maintain productivity.
• Assist supervisors with the training of new employees.
