About The Position

The Solid Waste Equipment Operator is responsible for operating various types of solid waste collection trucks and equipment under the supervision of a Route Supervisor or Service Coordinator. This role involves driving in heavy traffic, navigating narrow streets, and ensuring the efficient collection and processing of solid waste. The operator is also tasked with maintaining the cleanliness and functionality of the equipment, performing inspections, and reporting any unsafe conditions. The position requires adaptability to different routes and the ability to work in various weather conditions.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Possession of a valid Texas CDL driver's license, Class A or B required.
• Ability to read maps, route printouts, or instructions is required.
• Basic understanding of hydraulic controls on solid waste trucks/equipment.

Responsibilities

• Operate solid waste equipment on assigned routes.
• Drive in heavy traffic and navigate narrow alleys or streets.
• Perform automated collection and processing of solid waste.
• Inspect, wash, and maintain the cleanliness of equipment.
• Complete daily task reports and inspection reports.
• Report unsafe conditions to the supervisor.
• Learn a minimum of three different routes within a specified time frame.
