About The Position

EMS , located in Ogden, Utah (near the Wasatch Mountains) is seeking a Solder Technician to assemble and inspect electronic circuit boards using both surface mount and through-hole soldering techniques. This position plays a key role in ensuring our customers receive high-quality, reliable products that meet IPC standards and strict industry expectations. Pay: $18/hr - training provided Schedule: Full-time, Monday - Thursday 6a - 4:30p - Friday overtime as needed We offer Medical, Dental, & Vision Insurance 401k with a company match 7 paid holidays per year 10 days of PTO per year – begins accruing on the first day of employment About the Role You will be responsible for assembling and inspecting electronic circuit boards using both surface mount and through-hole soldering techniques. You'll be responsible for ensuring our customers receive high-quality, reliable products that meet IPC standards and strict industry expectations.

  • Willingness to follow PPE and ESD safety requirements
  • Work performed in a clean, ESD-controlled production environment
  • Ability to sit or stand for extended periods and perform precision work under a microscope
  • Visual acuity to inspect fine detail and small components
  • Frequent fine motor work and hand dexterity
  • Ability to regularly lift up to 20 lbs and occasionally 45 lbs (with assistance when needed)
  • Exposure to normal manufacturing noise and chemicals

Nice To Haves

  • IPC-A-610 certification (or willingness to obtain)
  • J-STD-001 certification (or willingness to obtain)
  • Prior electronics assembly or manufacturing experience

Responsibilities

  • Solder surface mount and through-hole components under a microscope using lead-free and tin-lead solder
  • Inspect solder joints, component placement, and polarity to ensure quality and IPC compliance
  • Perform first article and first board inspections
  • Operate automated production equipment including AOI systems, Hakko equipment, and heat wands
  • Perform light rework and repairs using tools such as solder wick
  • Maintain IPC-A-610 workmanship standards (Level II and/or III)
  • Follow ESD procedures and safety protocols
  • Communicate effectively with teammates, leads, and engineering support
  • Assist with training as experience develops
  • Support continuous improvement activities
  • Maintain a clean, organized work area and follow written and verbal instructions
