About The Position

Spark Power, a trusted partner in energy in North America, is seeking a Solar Technician to join their project in El Campo, TX. This role is for a Renewable Energy Technician who will be specifically assigned a group of utility assets. The technician is expected to develop extensive familiarity with their designated sites and become the subject matter expert on all aspects relating to those facilities. Requirements

  • Detailed understanding of energization/de-energization procedures
  • Detailed understanding of Lock-out, tag out plans
  • Detailed understanding of operations of site-specific PLCs and controls
  • Understanding and access to latest drawings

Responsibilities

  • Perform all duties of a Renewable Energy Technician in an exemplary fashion
  • Conducts self in a professional manner with internal team members and customers
  • Provide up to date information to Asset Managers with regards to their sites
  • Maintain facility buildings in a well-kept and organized manner
  • Manage site inventory and procurement
  • Provide site safety training, orientation, and tours for clients where necessary
  • Lead/assist in PMs, maintaining schedule and keeping up to date on PM status
  • Managing jobs, material procurement, and third-party contractors
  • Participation in weekend on-call and various hours of work resulting in overtime throughout peak production season
  • Complete general reporting and documentation of all work performed daily, provide detailed summaries of large jobs to Asset Manager
  • Performs other duties as assigned
  • Take ownership/accountability of your sites
  • Keep the sites looking clean and tidy – buildings, vegetation, fences, gates, roads, etc.
  • Ensure spare parts inventory is organized, up to date, and able to pull from quickly
  • Take ownership of site health and safety including signs, PPE, and documentation
  • Be able to tour around owners/guests as necessary and able to speak to any on-going issues or concerns
  • Support troubleshooting on all equipment and push to maximize performance/production
  • Manage all preventive maintenance activities
  • Complete bi-weekly / monthly inspections to ensure small jobs are cleaned up over time / can pick up where you left off
  • Be involved in all major PMs i.e. inverters, combiners, helio, substation shutdowns
  • Be aware of all correctives (request to be brought up to speed and have access to the report even if not always available to fix everything)
