About The Position

As a Solar Technician, you will be responsible for assembling, installing, or maintaining solar photovoltaic (PV) systems on roofs or other structures. This role requires compliance with site assessments and schematics, and may involve measuring, cutting, assembling, and bolting structural framing and solar modules. You will work in a typical construction site environment, which may include cramped workspaces and exposure to various weather conditions.

Requirements

  • 2 years of experience working as a Solar Installer or equivalent combination of education and experience in a construction setting.
  • Working knowledge of the Solar Photovoltaic construction craft.
  • Ability to read and understand plans and specifications.
  • Must be at least 18 years of age.

  • Experience with safety-sensitive positions.
  • Ability to visualize two-dimensional drawings in three dimensions.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Promote and comply with all Company and safety policies and procedures.
  • Use appropriate hand tools and power tools to install photovoltaic (PV) systems according to codes and standards.
  • Lay-out, assemble and install solar modules, panels, or support structures as specified.
  • Apply weather sealing to arrays, buildings, or support mechanisms.
  • Identify methods for laying out, orienting, and mounting modules or arrays.
  • Identify and resolve deficiencies in photovoltaic (PV) system installation or materials.
  • Install required labels on solar system components and hardware.
  • Determine materials, equipment, and installation sequences necessary to maximize installation efficiency.
  • Activate photovoltaic (PV) systems to verify functionality and performance expectations.
  • Lift, carry, and hold building materials, tools, and supplies; clean tools and work areas.
  • Compile or maintain records of system operation, performance, and maintenance.
  • Participate in all pre-job work planning and safety discussions.
  • Provide on-the-job training and/or mentoring to helpers and laborers.
  • Inspect helper's work for compliance with contract plans and specifications.
  • Notify supervision of any hazards observed and utilize safety stop work authority as needed.
