About The Position

The Project Superintendent – Solar oversees construction of the project and coordinates all construction activities on site for the completion of electrical, civil and mechanical solar installation work. Project Superintendent is responsible for overseeing daily activities to ensure these are completed safely, efficiently and to client specifications. They manage the workforce, coordinate subcontractors and maintain quality and safety standards.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma/GED, Required.
  • 3+ Years supervisory role as a Foreman/General Foreman/Assistant Superintendent/ Superintendent or a combination of three in renewables, utility work or heavy construction projects, required.
  • Valid Driver’s License, required.
  • Ability to travel domestically 76-100% of the time, required.
  • 1+ Year experience as a Discipline Superintendent (Civil, Mechanical, Foundations, Electrical, Logistics), preferred.
  • OHSA 10 and/or 30, preferred.
  • Advanced level of knowledge in communication, relationship building, adaptability to environment, decision making, construction knowledge, safety, utility right of ways, fundamentals of contract requirements, interpreting state rules and regulations, understanding scheduling concepts and exceptions.
  • Intermediate level of knowledge in change orders, accounting software, labor and equipment management to support schedule and budget, understanding environmental concepts.
  • Basic level of knowledge in Microsoft Office suite (Excel, Word).

Responsibilities

  • Works with Project Managers and other stakeholders to create and maintain the project schedules, ensuring timely completion of tasks.
  • Accountable for productivity of the craft groups.
  • Manages interface between various disciplines – civil, logistics, electrical, and mechanical.
  • Sets up an initial site layout and site infrastructure services to include water, power, internet and office trailers and required facilities.
  • Works with Project Manager to develop seven-day look ahead plan for the site.
  • Directs and supervises construction crews, including assigning tasks, monitoring performance, and providing guidance and training.
  • Recommends and evaluates sub-contractors for use on projects.
  • Liaises with subcontractors, ensuring their work aligns with project plans and specifications, and manages their schedules.
  • Enforces safety regulations, conducts safety meetings, and ensures the job site adheres to OSHA standards.
  • Is responsible for implementation of the site emergency response plan.
  • Monitors work quality, identifying and addressing defects, and ensuring that the finished product meets the required standards.
  • Oversees the delivery and storage of materials and equipment, ensuring they are available when needed.
  • Helps Project Manager monitor and manage project costs, track expenses, and identify potential cost-saving opportunities.
  • Manages labor and equipment expenditures to ensure alignment with budgetary goals.
  • Provides regular updates to project managers and other stakeholders, maintaining daily logs, and preparing reports.
  • Addresses any issues or challenges that arise during the construction process, finding solutions, and keeping the project on track.
  • Attends work regularly and punctually, as scheduled or expected.
  • Complies with Employee Handbook, Code of Conduct, and Company Policies & Procedures.
  • Strengthens and continually maintains client relationships.
  • Supports developing projects to complete all required permitting activities before commencement.
  • Ensures training is provided and certifications are maintained on field staff to comply with EMS requirements.
  • Follows safety and security procedures and determines appropriate action.
  • Reports potentially unsafe conditions and uses materials and equipment properly.
  • Ensures that safety is the most important function, follows safe practices while working.
  • Reinforces safe behaviors and eliminates 'at risk' behaviors.
  • Ensures Job Hazard Analysis (JHA’s) occurs before scopes of work commence.
  • Fosters and demonstrates a workplace inclusive of creating opportunity, serving others, building trust, innovation, and exceeding expectations.
  • Manages one or more direct reports.
  • Participates in hiring and selection process to fill positions on the team.
  • Communicates regularly with direct reports on goals, accomplishments, and information on policies.

  • Provides tasks and assignments that challenge and stretch employees’ responsibilities.
  • Conducts regular discussions with employee(s) on personal development.
  • Conducts timely, effective performance reviews in accordance with RES guidelines.
