Solar Photovoltaic Service Technician
About The Position
The Service Technician will assemble, install, and maintain solar photovoltaic (PV) systems. He or she is required to support a senior tech, remove, and replace components, and provide detailed reports. Supervisory Responsibilities: None. Duties/Responsibilities: Installs solar panels on roofs and other structures. Assist in troubleshooting AC & DC electrical systems, identify faults, and determine equipment status. Configures PV systems based on site conditions and customers’ needs and expectations. Follow building standards and codes when making repairs, process RMA’s with the manufacturer. Ensures that equipment is weather-sealed. Performs routine maintenance on PV systems, cleans modules, and inverters. Communicate in a professional manner with clients and handle frustrated clients. Performs other related duties as assigned. Assist a Senior technician when assigned or required Other duties as requested by management.
Requirements
- Basic knowledge of PV equipment and battery equipment installation
- Basic understanding of troubleshooting and commissioning battery systems
- Basic analytical and problem-solving skills
- Ability to read building plans
- Ability to use hand and power tools to install PV panels and battery components
- Basic understanding of the functions and use of a Volt-Ohm meter
- Basic Understanding of Electrical Code and Conductor Ampacity
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Must be able to work at great heights
- Prolonged periods of kneeling, bending, crouching, and climbing ladders
- Must be able to lift at least 45 pounds at a time
- Ability to work in confined spaces such as attics
- Ability to work under stress
- Ability to work in the sun and high heat situations
- Must have a clean driving record
Nice To Haves
- Vocational or technical school training preferred, but not required
- Previous related experience preferred
