About The Position

We are a full-service HVAC, building automation, chiller, and retrofit contractor with a reputation for combining high-quality consulting services with customized energy solutions. Our integrated, single-source solutions include turnkey in-house capabilities with design assistance, as well as engineering applications and automated control systems. The Solar Construction Manager will be responsible for production, ensuring quality, and maintaining a safety culture among on-site personnel and subcontractors. This position will also enforce and resolve matters such as on-site complaints and daily construction issues regarding on-site technical issues, safety, schedule, inspections, quality, change orders, and construction deviations. This role requires working effectively with the Project Manager and other team members.

Requirements

  • A bachelor’s degree in engineering is preferred or equivalent experience.
  • 5+ years’ experience in the construction field on projects of similar size and complexity
  • Experience implementing quality control/quality assurance processes.
  • Must be proficient in reading blueprints, plans, and specs.
  • Demonstrate proficiency using a personal computer and company communication tools, such as email, internet, and Microsoft Office products.
  • Demonstrated Safe Working Practices and knowledge of OSHA safety standards. (Osha 30 certification is a plus)
  • Organized and able to meet deadlines.
  • Great attention to detail with a commitment to quality workmanship.
  • Proficient with conflict management, prioritizing daily tasks, multi-tasking, and problem-solving skills.
  • Self-starter with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Must be willing to travel.

Nice To Haves

  • PV industry experience (preferred)
  • Microsoft Project experience a plus.
  • Fork and/or Scissor lift certified is a plus.
  • Osha 30 certification is a plus

Responsibilities

  • Participates in preconstruction planning, when possible, regarding the project schedule and budget.
  • Maintains consistent communication of project expectations and direction with subcontractors and employees regarding schedules, construction methods, company policies and procedures, permits, safety/loss prevention, quality control, and other performance standards.
  • Assists Project Manager and/or administrative staff, when possible, with sourcing subcontractors, small rentals, and/or small material vendors for projects in new geographical areas
  • Thoroughly understands project specifications, scopes of work, and the contract’s general conditions and confirms that all materials and subcontract work comply with documents and quality specifications.
  • Explores and advises the project team on appropriate methods, materials, schedules, and procedure changes.
  • Ensures all materials are properly tested according to specifications, and all test results are recorded.
  • Prepare and issue a 3-week look-ahead schedule to provide a detailed day-to-day plan for upcoming work identified on the overall Project Schedule.
  • Responsible for scheduling deliveries of small rentals on projects when applicable.
  • Ensures that the project site and company assets are secure and maintains a safe and respectful working environment.
  • Document & report any subcontractor problems and/or nonperformance to the Project Manager immediately & assist with managing performance through mentoring/training, disciplinary action, back charges, and/or other appropriate actions.
  • Confirms that extra charges from subcontractors/suppliers are reasonable and work is correctly executed.
  • Coordinate with the project manager for approval of accepted change orders.
  • Facilitates weekly project production and safety meetings with all subcontractor representatives and coordinates the upcoming week’s work to be accomplished.
  • Attends all progress meetings with the core stakeholders.
  • Complete daily production reports.
  • Manages critical work environment planning and procedure methods to minimize human error factors that could cause downtime during work processes.
  • Ensures that the project is fully operational after installation, including but not limited to all electrical/technical components of the project, are online, commissioned, and fully functional.
  • Ensures that the project closeout process is finalized, demobilizes all resources, and turns over the project to the client.
