About The Position

Under the supervision of the Chief Engineer and Drain Commissioner, administers and enforces the Soil Erosion and Sedimentation Control Act per Part 91, of P.A. 451 of 1994 as both a County Enforcing Agent (CEA) for the County of Monroe, and as an Authorized Public Agent (APA) for the Monroe County Drain Commissioner’s office. Reviews applications and Erosion Control Plans, issues permits, performs on-site inspections, and carries out necessary enforcement actions.

Requirements

  • Possession of an Associate Degree preferably in an engineering related field with course work in surveying, drafting, construction or civil engineering.
  • Two years of experience involving construction engineering, surveying, reading blueprints, and other functions related to erosion control.
  • Additional experience in soil conservation may substitute for the educational requirement, if there is demonstrated knowledge, ability and skill to perform the duties.
  • Currently certified or having the qualifications to become certified within 6 months by the Michigan Department of Energy, Great Lakes, and Energy (EGLE) as an agent under Part 91 Soil Erosion Sedimentation Control Act (PA 451 of 1994 as amended).
  • Possession of a valid Michigan Driver’s License with reliable transportation.
  • Ability to pass a security clearance for access to high security sites such as Nuclear Power Plants, Ports, or other confidential sites.
