Amazon is seeking a Software Development Engineer for the AWS Networking organization to design and develop software and services for configuring and automating operations for a global optical network. The role involves collaborating with various teams to ensure scalable designs that meet customer expectations while maintaining operational efficiency.   • Design, implement, test, deploy, and maintain innovative solutions to transform service performance, durability, cost, and security.
  • Write high-quality distributed system software.
  • Build metrics and maintain metrics platforms to see the impact of work on customers.
  • Shape the automation future in the Networking Backbone Capacity organization.
  • Develop tools, services, and processes that collect and rationalize data from different sources.
  • Identify and troubleshoot recurring platform issues with effective escalation to senior-level engineering teams.
  • Be involved in the formulation of structured training.

  • 5+ years of non-internship professional software development experience.
  • 5+ years of programming with at least one software programming language.
  • 5+ years of systems development in an IT or data center environment.
  • 5+ years of deploying and operating in a Linux/Unix environment.
  • 5+ years of programming with at least one modern language such as C++, C#, Java, Python, Golang, PowerShell, or Ruby.
  • Experience building complex software systems that have been successfully delivered to customers.
  • 5+ years of full software development life cycle experience, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations.
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent.
  • Knowledge of engineering practices and patterns for the full software/hardware/network development life cycle.
  • Knowledge of optical systems and their components used in large network environments.
  • Experience taking a leading role in building complex software or computing infrastructure.
