Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree and 5+ years of experience with Systems Administration/Virtualization (work experience can be substituted in lieu of degree)
  • 8140.01M IAT Level II certification
  • 3+ years of experience with VDI technologies, including VMware Horizon, Citrix Virtual Apps and Desktops, or Microsoft Remote Desktop Services.
  • 2+ years of experience with Citrix XenApp or comparable application virtualization technology (Microsoft App-V, FlexApp, App Volumes, etc)
  • Active DoD TS/SCI

  • Experience with Windows Desktop (10/11) and Server (2012+) Operating Systems
  • Experience with profile management solutions such as VMware DEM or Liquidware Labs' Profile-Unity
  • Experience with non-persistent desktop environments
  • Experience with profile management solutions such as VMware DEM or Liquidware Labs' Profile-Unity
  • Familiarity with ActiveDirectory, specifically Group PolicyUnderstanding of load-balancing application delivery services
  • Understanding of ITIL principles and architectural frameworks such as TOGAF
  • Virtualization compute environment certification, i.e. VMware Certified Associate for Data Center Virtualization (VCA-DCV)

Responsibilities

  • Develop virtualized packages for mission baseline applications, consumed across both VDI sessions and thick clients—including applications with plugins and advanced graphics requirements.
  • Collaborate with application testers and mission subject matter experts (SMEs) to validate application behavior and performance.
  • Incorporate sequencing changes into the app sequencing process and refine workflows as needed.
  • Identify and configure user application settings (registry, AppData, etc.) to persist across sessions in non-persistent VDI environments.
  • Pinpoint automation opportunities within application sequencing and partner with engineering teams to streamline deployment for mission applications.
  • Assist the virtualization and VDI teams with application delivery infrastructure configuration and optimization.
  • Enhance backup, disaster recovery, and continuity of operations processes.
  • Rapidly produce clear, detailed technical deliverables—including designs, test plans, implementation guides, operational guides, and training materials—within project time and cost constraints.
  • Perform work independently, exercising sound judgment and latitude in determining technical objectives and solutions.
  • Leverage VMware Software Defined Data Center (SDDC) products and tools for troubleshooting, performance tuning, and environment optimization.
  • Analyze, test, and apply regular security patches and software updates to maintain secure operations.
  • Maintain deep, current knowledge of virtualization products and capabilities, applying them to evolving program requirements.
  • Demonstrate strong time management and organizational skills to meet deadlines effectively.
  • Deliver excellent written and oral communication, including technical documentation and peer training.
  • Support incident resolution and fulfill software requests promptly.
