About The Position

SMX is seeking a Software Tester with 5+ years of professional experience to develop a new digital engineering environment for a government client in Huntsville, AL. This environment will include virtual testing and deployment capabilities to simulate UxS platforms for the DoD. Essential Duties & Responsibilities Work with an Agile software development team delivering value to a DoD customer in small, incremental iterations. Be responsible for following pre-defined software safety practices to develop flight critical software. This includes software architecture reviews, documentation updates, and comprehensive testing of new capabilities. Develop software designs using best practices and object-oriented methodologies. Routine collaboration with team members in developing system capabilities is expected. Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Clearance Required: Secret
  • US citizen ship is required for work on DOD contracts
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field required
  • 4 additional years of related experience may be substituted for the degree requirement
  • 3+ years of related experience is required
  • Must have experience in an object-oriented programming language like C#/.NET, Java, or C++.
  • Candidate must have experience creating automated unit and integration level tests.
  • Experience establishing good configuration management practices; will be responsible for proper code maintenance, merging, and configuration management.
  • Experience presenting to customers and conducting demonstrations.
  • CONUS Travel required: Less than 20%
  • Must reside within a 70-mile radius of Redstone Arsenal in Huntsville, AL

Nice To Haves

  • Prefer understanding of agile software development, ideally Extreme Programming (XP).
  • Experience with web and platform engineering is desired.
  • Familiarity with Git for software source control and configuration management.
  • Experience leading small agile teams and mentoring junior software engineers.
  • Familiarity with Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) tools like terraform.
  • Experience developing in Amazon Web Services (AWS) or similar cloud environments.
  • Familiar with docker and/or Kubernetes deployment strategies.
